Cinta Rasa Ulos dan Manik (Love Woven in Ulos and Beads)

Crescentia Thalia Veronica Liah (29), a young architect of Dayak Bahau and Dayak Tunjung heritage, is a rising star in her field who rarely returns to her hometown of Samarinda. But when a prestigious real estate client brings a major project to the city, Thalia has no choice but to come home. Her parents cheer, not because their daughter is finally back, but because they hope she’s bringing along a future husband. The problem? Thalia hasn’t even thought about marriage, let alone dating.

Meanwhile, Astono Petrus Hutabarat (30), a sharp, ambitious, and somewhat cynical lawyer of Batak Toba descent, finds himself in Samarinda handling a land dispute for one of his clients. Fate throws him and Thalia together in the least romantic way possible when Aston accidentally spills coffee all over her blueprint in a five-star hotel lobby. From that moment on, destiny (and conflict) keep crossing their paths.

From heated debates about who’s more stubborn to playful clashes over their traditions and cultural pride, Thalia and Aston never seem to get along at least not on the surface. Deep down, though, feelings begin to grow, even if both are far too proud to admit it.

Adding to the comedy, their parents keep pressuring them to introduce a partner, oblivious to the fact that their children are already locked in a “love war” in Samarinda. As Thalia’s architectural project and Aston’s legal case start to overlap, the two are forced to work together.

Will these two headstrong, busy professionals from different cultures finally confess their feelings? Or will they keep sparring with words until their love spills over just like the coffee on that very first blueprint?

“Love Woven in Ulos and Beads” is a romantic comedy that proves love can bloom from the silliest arguments, and that tradition isn’t meant to divide but to unite.
