Bukan kebetulan, bukan pula tren.
Albert tersenyum.
Lila tertawa. “Jawabanmu selalu simpel.”
Albert menoleh, menatap laut.
“Apa kamu nggak bosan?” tanya Lila pelan. “Pantai yang sama, sandal yang sama, aku yang sama.”
Albert menoleh, lalu meraih tangan Lila. “Aku justru takut kalau suatu hari semua itu berubah.”
Lila terdiam, lalu menggenggam tangan Albert lebih erat.
Sore itu, ombak datang seperti biasa. Pasir tetap hangat.
Seperti pantai.
Seperti sandal itu.
Dan seperti mereka.

The beach had always held a special place in Lila Angelina’s heart.
She loved the sound of waves coming and going, the salty wind clinging to her skin, and the evening sky slowly changing colors. But there was one small thing that made every visit to the beach feel even more special to her—a pair of light blue beach sandals she always wore.
The same sandals were also always worn by Albert Anthony.
It wasn’t a coincidence, nor a trend. It had been their choice since the beginning of their relationship. The same sandals, the same design—only the sizes were different. To others it might seem trivial, but for Lila and Albert, those sandals were a symbol of togetherness.
Every time their feet touched the sand, Albert always walked on Lila’s left side. They moved slowly, leaving footprints side by side—sometimes erased by the waves, sometimes lasting a little longer.
“Isn’t it funny?” Lila said one afternoon, looking down at their sandals. “We’ve come to the beach so many times, but we always wear the same ones.”
Albert smiled. “Because the beach never suddenly turns into a mountain.”
Lila laughed. “Your answers are always simple.”
Albert turned his gaze toward the sea. “Because the important things don’t have to be complicated.”
They sat at the edge of the shore, their legs stretched out, their sandals slightly wet from the seawater. The sun slowly sank, casting golden reflections across the surface of the ocean.
“Don’t you ever get bored?” Lila asked softly. “The same beach, the same sandals… the same me.”
Albert turned to her and gently took her hand.
“I’d actually be afraid if one day all of that changed.”
Lila fell silent, then squeezed Albert’s hand a little tighter.
That afternoon, the waves came as they always did. The sand remained warm. And their beach sandals rested side by side again—simple, yet full of meaning.
Because for Lila and Albert, love was not about grand things that were always new.
It was about the small things they kept choosing—again and again.
Like the beach.
Like those sandals.
And like them.
